State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held separate talks with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mr Dmitry Medvedev and United States National Security Advisor Mr Robert Charles O’Brien at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday.
At 2: 40 pm local time, the State Counsellor met with the Russian Prime Minister at the Sapphire 111 of the Impact Center. They discussed fostering bilateral relations between the two countries, increasing cooperation in the sectors of energy, industry, civil aviation and education, organizing a joint commission meeting for bilateral trade and economic cooperation in Nay Pyi Taw, exchange of visits of senior official and close cooperation in the international arena.
At 9:30 am local time, the State Counsellor received the United States National Security Advisor at the Sapphire 104 of the same venue about promoting bilateral relations, fighting narcotic drugs, trafficking in persons, prevention and combating of illegal trading in wildlife, continued promotion of bilateral cooperation including consular matters, efforts being made to accept the displaced persons from Rakhine State in accordance with the bilateral agreement, and cooperation with UNHCR and UNDP which are UN agencies.
They also exchanged views in an open and cordial manner on areas of mutual interest in regional and international affairs. These meetings were attended by Union Ministers U Thaung Tun and U Kyaw Tin.
